Основными факторами неблагополучия по коклюшу автор считает недостаточный учет случаев инфекции, увеличение числа отказов родителей от АКДС-вакцинации, постепенное угасание напряженности постпрививочного иммунитета и низкий уровень защиты у детей перед поступлением в школу, а также сложности диагностики инфекции и атипичное течение заболевания у подростков и взрослых. Особое внимание уделено обзору современных дискуссий по вопросам изменчивости возбудителя, сравнительной эффективности и иммуногенности цельноклеточных и ацеллюлярных вакцин и международному опыту перехода использование бесклеточных АКДС-вакцин.
